Household

Every week, our crews provide recycling, refuse, food and garden waste collections to more than 170,000 properties across Cheshire West and Chester. With over 440,000 collections carried out each week – more than 24 million a year – our kerbside service plays an important role in keeping the borough running smoothly.

Delivering the service on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council, we focus on providing safe, reliable and efficient collections for residents. More than 99.9% of collections are completed right first time, reflecting the work of our crews and operational teams across the borough every day.

Our role goes beyond collecting bins. Recycling collected from households is brought to our Materials Recovery Facility in Ellesmere Port, where materials are sorted and prepared for recycling, while food and garden waste are sent for reprocessing. By working closely with the Council and residents, we aim to reduce waste, maximise recycling and make the best possible use of the materials we collect.

Residents also have an important part to play. Recycling the right materials and reducing the amount of waste we produce helps us recover more resources and reduce environmental impact.

Recycling

Every week, our crews collect recyclable materials from households across the borough. Keeping these materials separate from general waste means they can be recovered and recycled, reducing the amount of waste sent for disposal and helping to reduce the need for new raw materials.

Recycle right

Getting recycling right helps us make the most of the materials we collect. When items that cannot be recycled are mixed with recyclable materials, this is known as contamination and it can affect the quality of the recycling we collect.  Contamination can make materials more difficult to sort and process and, in some cases, can mean otherwise recyclable material is lost. Keeping recycling as clean and free from incorrect items as possible gives us the best opportunity to recover materials successfully and send them on for recycling.
