Built for the borough
Our fleet has evolved to meet the different demands of waste and recycling collections across Cheshire West and Chester. From larger collection vehicles operating across the borough to specialist vehicles designed for rural and narrow-access locations, our vehicles enable us to provide an efficient and flexible service to residents.
Our recycling fleet includes x23 26-tonne Twinpack vehicles, which use a split-body design to keep different recycling materials separated during collection. This approach has helped reduce the number of collection vehicles required by approximately one third. Alongside these, six 7.5-tonne and four 23-tonne narrow-access vehicles help our crews reach locations where larger vehicles are less suitable, while 17 dedicated 7.5-tonne vehicles support weekly food waste collections. Our fleet also includes a range of Rotapress and refuse collection vehicles for garden and residual waste.
Beyond household collections, we operate specialist vehicles to move materials between our sites and onward to recycling and reprocessing facilities. These include Big Bite vehicles for transporting food waste, articulated vehicles and roll-on roll-off vehicles supporting our Household Waste Recycling Centres.
A safe, efficient fleet
Investment in our fleet continues to focus on safety, efficiency and reducing environmental impact. Advances in bin-lift technology and hydraulic systems are helping to reduce fuel consumption and associated emissions, while the introduction of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) as an alternative to conventional diesel further reduces the environmental impact of our operations.
New vehicles also include technology such as 360-degree camera systems, driver behaviour monitoring and vehicle safety systems to help protect our crews, other road users and members of the public. Our primary collection vehicles are also equipped with defibrillators suitable for adults and children, making potentially life-saving equipment available within the communities our crews work in every day.
